Pine Wood Elementary school held their 41st annual 1 mile Fun Run in DeRidder on Friday, October 21st.
The event has received much support over the years from the community, Beauregard Health System sponsored this year's race and supplied t-shirts for all the faculty and staff for the event.
The top 3 female and male finishers in each grade received medals for their performances. In the 4th grade girl division: Heaven Johnson placed first with a time of 6:23! Miley McManus followed in with a time of 7:01 and Emery Warren got third place with a time of 7:36! Zoe Johnson was our honorable mention this year with Dean Jones - finishing with a great time!
The top 3 fourth grade boys were Boone Bertrand with a FAST time of 6:16! Jerret Tepley was able to finish in second place with a time of 6:36, followed by Slade Stark with a third place time of 6:44.
Our 5th grade girls had a third place tie between Jane Buxton and Destiny Sorrells with a time of 7:15. Ammara Mein came in second with a time of 7:06. Kaydence Johnson was able to get first place two years in a row, this year with a time of 6:28!
Our 5th grade boys were speedy this year. Michael Hester was able to get third place with a time of 6:53, Taylan Lucius got second place with a time of 6:39! Our first place boy Kayden Johnson finished with a RECORD CRUSHING time of 5:58!
Kaydence and Kayden are twins who both got first place in 4th grade and again this year as 5th graders! Their younger sister Heaven received first place in 4th grade this year. All of our top finishers in 5th grade ALSO placed last year as top finishers!
Congratulations to all our students who completed the Fun Run! This event was a huge success thanks to all our help from the teachers, faculty and students and local police who were able to secure us a safe running course! We are already looking forward to next year's 42nd Fun Run!
